Praia da Mareta, in Sagres, is also an excellent place to observe paleontological fossil records, namely invertebrates of the Zoophycos type or other types, such as ammonite fossils.
You will find traces of ancient living beings that lived in the deep seabeds. In the central area of Praia da Mareta, next to the pedestrian accesses, there is a large whitish rock, known as “Pedra do Sal”. It is a rare fossilized coral reef in the original place where it formed. The weather here was warm and the water shallow.
It will definitely be an excellent beach experience for you and your family!
